In reply to Your Lordship's Despatch No. 179 of 6th May last, I have the honor to state that the number of Chinese Prisoners who hence may be transported from hence to Labuan will probably exceed thirty annually.
The maintenance of each Convict at this Colony costs the Government £6.1.8 per annum, and if the expense of Bedding and Clothing be included, I think the total expense ought not to exceed £7.10 per annum.
The other points alluded to in Your Lordship's letter to Sir James Brooke are so entirely of a local nature that I...
